That points to the earpiece speaker at the top of the phone, while your loud speaker is fine. We can replace just the earpiece, which keeps the cost down.

Sound only comes out of headphones, never the speaker — is that the speaker?

Usually not — that's typically the phone stuck in "headphone mode" from lint or moisture in the charging/headphone port. We check the port and the speaker together.
